Mediocre sushi, don't bother

I love the black cod and the filet mignon appetizers. They are addicting!

It liekly was an off night, but i have rarely had sushi as rank as what they delivered. Even my cats were reluctant to eat

Some of the best Penne alla vodka I have ever had. The bread they give you is also fantastic.

Haru is always good. Their sushi is better than most in the city. Great lunch boxes as well.

Food was on time. The green-tea mochi was delicious, but they seem artificial. They look like the kind of mochi that you can buy on a supermarket in Chinatown. I bet that Haru buys prepared mochis, not makes them. Anyway: Delicious

Do NOT order from here late, as the delivery person will ring your bell, bang on your door, and yell out "DELIVERY!" in the hallway all simutaneously -- apparently in an effort to piss off your neighbors and wake their sleeping children. I have contacted the restaurant about this delivery person, but he still does the same thing, and they even offered me a full refund for my food as compensation for the inconvenience (something I did not even ask for), but they never followed through on it regardless. No refund ever received and lousy service throughout. There are other sushi places. I suggest we all try them instead.

Simply awful. Why is the delivery service so poor. And by poor i mean losing Seamless Orders and extra long delivery times. This location is not busy, let alone on a Saturday night....70-85 minute delivery times? Never again
(and don't order the Shishito Peppers...they are always out and it will delay your order)

In the Wall st. area Haru is probably the highest quality sushi. In part this is due to the lack of higher end Japanese. Prices are high, but food is generally good quality.
Posted 3 years ago by jonathan e.
Totally awful. Dreadful. 2 hours for delivery - I live about 4 streets away. Food was foul - literally indelible. Tuna was black! Avocado was brown. Salmon was green. Worst restaurant on Seamless.

This is clearly a place that is a step up from other local Japanese places. The Rock Shrimp side was an unexpected surprise. Love them.
Quick delivery time too.
Posted 3 years ago by MARY C.
Very underwhelmed with the Chicken and Salmon Teriyaki Lunchboxes. Both the chicken and salmon are so overlooked, they are dry as jerky. The rock shrimp kakiage is soggy and oily. And this is supposedly one of the best sushi places?
Posted 3 years ago by Angela L.
Greasy and just as I suspected...Haru has lost its appeal. Bring back the 90's please!
Posted 3 years ago by Nerissa B.
Hard to rate in stars because although their food is excellent, the delivery time of over an hour (which is stated clearly) is a real pain. Order in advance, I guess.
The vegetarian rolls is what I like best here. But somehow I am still hungry after a haru order.
Food is excellent, though, when it finally arrives. So only 4 stars here.

Very happy food is delicious. Arrived warm.

Food has gone downhill, and the forced minimum tip is their way of addressing terrible delivery service (as opposed to earning a higher tip by offering good service).

Amazing Every time, great quality - quick delivery and even with large or changing orders always correct!
Posted 3 years ago by Jessica S.
I have been ordering from Haru for years. They are always reliable and consistent in their quality which is very very good. Recently certain health conditions have made me much more aware of the way we eat, order, consume food and I have to say, it might be time to do away with the styrofoam containers for the Miso soup :-)

after hearing their sushi was pretty good, i tried their sushi (decent), dumplings, and tempura udon. the dumplings were disappointing - more chinese style than japanese. the udon noodles was not chewy, the broth had no flavor, and the tempura was so greasy and tough on the outside, i'm sorry to say i just threw it away. will not be ordering from here again.

My favorite sushi in Battery Park/Wall St area. Delicious and the chicken satay skewers are the bomb!

Now that I've discovered Haru downtown I am SO HAPPY. Yes their delivery times are long but the food is worth it and I welcome it. Everything is always tasty and perfect and worth the wait!

$1 for extra wasabi...seriously?! I will never order from Haru ever again. Their sushi is mediocre at best any way.
Posted 3 years ago by Sherry P.
I'm giving it 4 stars because I thought the prices were inflated, but great sushi and desserts.

i've ordered from haru plenty of times and they're usually pretty on point with delivery time and customer service but i had a really disappointing experience recently. i placed an order on seamless at 9pm. i gave them a call at 10pm to check on the status. the manager spent a little bit of time trying to locate my order in their system. he found it and said it never went through to processing so they would get on it ASAP and that i should receive it in half an hour.
i was already super hungry at this point and nothing else is open around here. i just really wanted my food. so i waited another half hour...nothing came. i waited until 10:45pm....still nothing. i gave them another call but the phone just kept ringing. i looked up their hours and it said they close at 10:30pm! all i was ordered was the fish taco appetizer and one piece of salmon sushi. it should not take this long!
it was 10:52pm and i was just about to give up, leave the office, and go home. i got a call at 10:53pm saying my food was in the lobby and i should come pick it up. imagine how happy i was that after practically two hours my food was finally here! i go downstairs only to find an empty lobby!!! no one was there!! i go back upstairs to try to look up the number and call them back...and a few minutes later the food finally arrives. i cannot believe how ridiculous this was. i should have at least received a call or something. i am terribly disappointed. i can't believe i was charged for it too!

They hit it outta the park tonight. Delivery sushi can be so random....I had the tuna avocado roll - it was like butta! Lobster roll and yes a Cali roll....really good.
Posted 4 years ago by Karen M.
Pricier than other restaurants in the neighborhood, but you absolutely cannot go wrong with the food here!
Posted 4 years ago by Joseph M.
Decent. Chicken was kind of bland in my teriyaki. Sushi was fresh though. Gave em 3 stars because they included this tempura veggie/shrimp side to my chicken teriyaki box. Wasnt expecting it and although was not very crisp or hot, was still pretty delicious.

Miso soup is always cold.

90 minutes and still no food - even after 2 calls to Haru, and the assurance that it is only a block away. It isn't, and I'm going to bed. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE!
Posted 4 years ago by Matthew D.
Sushi was mediocre at best - Salmon and Eel were just plain bad. We live in Battery Park/Tribeca and will not order again. If you want good sushi for the area, order from Zutto. Only problem with Zutto is the cost.
Posted 4 years ago by Ryan T S.
Fresh and tasty Japanese food. Plus, they actually delivered the frozen mochi ice cream dessert and took into my account my preference for mango mochi. It is a little on the pricier side but I thoroughly enjoy their food and interesting roll combinations. This is a go-to for delivery and brick and mortar sushi in NYC for me.

Haru's food is fantastic. The fact that they require that you select a 10%+ tip is unfortunate. If I order $75 or $150 of food the delivery is essentially the same and a requiring a $15 tip is too much.

I got a Spicy Titanic Roll and while it was a little on the salty side, it tasted great otherwise, and arrived speedily.

While I have bought food from Haru Wall St on numerous occasions, and have never had any problems with the food or delivery speed, I cannot help it, but gripe a bit about my order today. I placed an order at 8:40pm and received it at about 10:20pm. It would have taken me not more than 10 minutes to walk out of my building, pick-up my food and come back home - that's how close I live. I understand that there are heavy traffic days and would absolutely be reasonable if people level-set with me. After 45 minutes wait, I called the restaurant and asked about the status of my order. I was told that it's on its way. Another 45 minutes later and my food finally came over - not a word of explanation for the delay. Please take a note and next time do something when you make an error. Not even talking about concessions (normal practice usually in any decent restaurant to comp part of the food or toss in something extra), but just be straight forward - people always remember the one bad experience. The one star rating is to get your attention - I have no complaints about the food.

You would expect the food to be better here, and it is. Im not a fancy sushi eater but like my tuna's and shrimp and the rolls have been very good. Sure you pay for what you get, but at least its very good.

Bad quality fish on a sunday night. Slow delivery. No wasabi or ginger. Seafood temoura was terrible. Tuna looked liked it had been sitting out for a while. Very dissapointed.
Posted 5 years ago by Carlos V.
Sushi is usually good, and there is a level of consistency. Don't order the shumai, unless you want to wait 75 minutes for delivery. The accommodation: a "note on my account". For the price I paid, I could have taken a cab to the village, picked up sushi at Tomoe, and then a cab home. I think I have to break up with Haru.

great food. But $8.50 for a $2 bottle of Fuji water? That's a ridiculous mark-up.

for quality of food, Haru is by far the best choice for sushi/sashimi downtown and has the best lunch menu. after ordering i went in for their sake hour...amazing prices for the same great quality!

Best Service and Best Sushi in the Financial District.

Sushi Special lunch is my go-to lunch.
Posted 5 years ago by Annie W.
There are many sushi places in the Financial District but few as good as this one. Their rolls are always well prepared and unlike many other places in this sector one can tell that attention was paid to detail. Delivery can take a while but it is certainly worth the wait.

Pricey sushi which is in line with this chains reputation but great quality and interesting items to chose from.
Posted 5 years ago by Jay B.
Food is always good and fresh. Service is slow at restaurant though.

Sushi is really great quality. The rolls are tasty too! Best sushi I've had downtown, I highly recommend Haru Wall St.

Outstanding for delivery.
Always fresh and hot.
Reliable and efficient.
Posted 5 years ago by Samantha T.
Their spicy tuna roll is so delicious that I order it in place of salmon which I usually prefer. The shrimp tempura is equally as good and they definitely don't cheat you on portion size - one of these appetizers will easily feed two!
Posted 5 years ago by Megan P.
Better for eat in then delivery. Bento box lunch special is great. Worth a trip to the Wall St. location

A cut above the other neighborhood Japanese. Delivery can take a long time.
Posted 5 years ago by Claudia W.
Good, but pricey sushi. Their specialty rolls are delish
Posted 5 years ago by Kate R.
The king crab dumplings are AWESOME. I could eat these everyday. The sushi from here is good, albeit pretty standard. What really sets Haru from the rest of the pack is their warm appetizers. So. good.
Posted 5 years ago by Gordon W.
We ordered the lunch box set and it was really good. Really enjoyed the fried tempura. Highly recommend.
Posted 5 years ago by Yen H.
Good sushi selections and very good hot entrees. Particularly like the Sea Bass with noodles, and also the stir fry tuna. Try the tempura if you feel like a warm appetizer, the ceviche is the best option for cold appetizer.
Posted 5 years ago by Miguel A.
Took more than 50 minutes to get cold, rubbery food -- and then a rude, annoying person who answered the phone told me I obviously didn't understand how that food gets cold and rubbery when it goes outside for delivery. If I want Japanese downtown, I'm going to stick with somewhere other than Haru. (I tried to give it 'no" stars, but this system forces you to give it at least one -- since I'm throwing $32 of cold food away, i don't even give it one star.)

Food arrived luke warm (got hot bento box), but it was delicious nevertheless. I have a love-hate relationship with this place -- I'm always annoyed by the service (such as late delivery or lack of attention at the restaurant), but the food is always delicious.
Posted 6 years ago by Maureen M.
NEVER ORDER BENTO BOX. There were only 3 sushi, 4 roll pieces and tons of sliced veges. Mochi ice cream seemed too old, I couldn't even eat. But they forced to pay $4 tip for $37 order.
Posted 6 years ago by Yeun C.
DONT DO CORPORATE DELIVERY. I got burned - took 96 minutes to get delivered. People on the desk were pissed. They FORCED at $9 tip on a $75 order. The sushi was all mixed together, so I had to separate it for everyone (no one likes people touching their food). Soup was cold by the time it got to us. I called to reverse out the TIP, but we'll see if that actually happens. There are 15 Sushi joints that deliver to my building, I'm sure someone appreciates the business enough to deliver in under an hour.

extremely slow service with just above average food.

The sushi bento box was a disappointment.. it only came with half a roll and 3 sushi pieces.
Posted 6 years ago by NORITOSHI Y.
Haru always delivers great food fast. It is the best sushi in this area hands down.
Posted 6 years ago by Bleecker W.
My order took over 50 minutes to leave the restaurant. It just shouldn't take that long to make sushi.
Posted 6 years ago by Matt D.
Restaurant claimed not to have gotten my order (I had received a confirmation email) and was disinterested, bordering on hostile.
Posted 7 years ago by Tadhg B.
plain, blah blah blah sushi no taste.

Posted 7 years ago by Sonia T.
Fishy smelling when delivered. Slicing techniques are terrible.
Posted 7 years ago by Jennifer R.
It took 50min for order to deliver to Wall St and that with +50% more tips upfront ! Food (steak) was cold and it seems was prepared from frozen meat.
Posted 7 years ago by Yuriy B.
Not good food. Crispy Duck not crispy, sides unappetizing. Sushi very average. Took 1hr to arrive. Oh, and very expensive.
Posted 7 years ago by Rachael W.
Sometimes good, sometimes quite bad.
Posted 7 years ago by Paris P.
12% tip minimum for a roll that probably sit out for an hour before being served. It's not even expensive, it's dangerous. The rice on the side was SOLID. Don't waste your money and your health.
Posted 7 years ago by Nina N.
Food is ok but extremely over priced for what it is. The 12% tip is insane. Will not order from here again due to greedy tip and over priced food. Many other options in area that deliver better value for dollar.
Posted 7 years ago by Nick G.
The sushi is fantastic from here, however it was an hour late and it was made with white rice when I had ordered brown rice.
Posted 8 years ago by Dave M.
best take out sushi downtown!
Posted 8 years ago by Karen B.
Would be decent sushi if it were half the price. The special rolls are significantly overvalued. Food took over an hour to be delivered within financial district. Clearly worth ordering elsewhere.

Excellent salad-very fresh and tasty
Posted 8 years ago by Lori F.
Food arrived very quickly and was delicious.
Posted 8 years ago by Megan T.
Took forever, spilled the miso soup, only gave three packets of soy sause. Food was good but not worth the price.
Posted 8 years ago by Bradley B.
Not quite up to par with the other Haru's around the city... sorry!
Edamame was over cooked and not all the the fish was as fresh as I expected.
Posted 8 years ago by Megan B.
I'm not a huge sushi fan, but I have to say that these folks know how to make great teriyaki. I'm also a big fan of their desserts. If you can't make it into this beautiful location (the decor is lovely), than you should order up as quickly as possible.
